A face covering is critical to stopping the spread of COVID-19. A New York State order requires everyone over the age of two who can medically tolerate a face covering to wear one when outside their home if they’re unable to maintain at least six feet of distance from others. A mask mandate is also in effect for anyone – including all FDNY employees – entering a government building even if they are more than six feet apart. This includes FDNY firehouses, EMS stations, all other Department facilities, and any department vehicle, including ambulances and fire trucks, if you are with someone.
