NEW YORK (PIX11) — Jamel McGriff stared down cameras after being charged with the home invasion murders of a married couple in Queens.

The 42-year-old made unsubstantiated claims about the victims and said he used to live in the neighborhood as a child, but did not outright deny the crimes he’s accused of.

The convicted sex offender was arrested while walking near Times Square on Wednesday night. Police say he is behind the torture killings of 76-year-old Frank Olton and his 77-year-old wife, Maureen.

Newly obtained audio and video from a neighboring residence show what appears to be the suspect forcing his way into the couple’s Bellerose home Monday morning. Mr. Olton can be heard yelling, “Get the F— out of here!”

It was previously believed that Mr. Olton allowed McGriff inside to charge his phone. However, police sources now say it was a robbery gone wrong.

He was set for an arraignment after 10 p.m. on Thursday night.
