Brothers and Sisters,
We at the EMS Help Fund recognize you may be going through some trying times throughout this pandemic.
Our job brings us situations that pull at our heart strings, leaving us frustrated and emotionally spent. We give so much of ourselves everyday, answering the call for help, that we often don’t have any left to give to ourselves.
Sunday’s fire in the Bronx left a heavy burden not only on the families affected, but those first responders that answered the call including our EMS members.
In this time of need we would like to offer you the counseling services of some of our partners in mental health.
Firstly, FDNY EMS members and their families who need immediate confidential counseling should call 1-888-NYC-WELL (1-888-692-9355) NYC Well. Don’t wait. Connect with someone who will listen and help. Call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
The EMS FDNY Help Fund has partners that can provide treatment on a less immediate basis.
- NYC Trauma Recovery Network provides confidential pandemic trauma counseling services in the form of EMDR to FDNY EMS members seeking it.
- National Institute for Psychotherapies can provide longer term psychotherapy, EMDR, medication consults, etc.
- The Weill Cornell Medicine Center for Trauma and Addiction is an outpatient, evidence based mental health treatment program that focuses on healing developmental and adult trauma.
With care we urge you to reach out, even if it’s just to talk in your time of need.
