New York Task Force 1 (NYTF-1), a part of the FEMA U.S. National Urban Search and Rescue (US&R) Response System, is proud to present the US&R Medical Team Specialist (MTS) course at the FDNY Fire Academy. The purpose of the Medical Team Specialist course is to provide emergency responders with the knowledge and skills needed to work effectively in the austere environment.
Topics will include:
- crush syndrome
- environmental injuries
- confined space medicine and rescue techniques
- search canine veterinary care
- and many hands-on scenarios including a practical field exercise in a live rubble and collapse environment.
